World Diabetes Day! did you even know there was such a thing? I find it somewhat ironic that I was actually diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus on World Diabetes Day back in 1994. If you can do an iota of math, that means I’ll have been a diabetic for 10 whole years this Sunday.
In honor of my 10 year anniversary, I’ll be filling the blog with tidbits about diabetes for the next few days. The first thing I want to make mention of is a very exciting research project underway with the Lee Iococca Foundation. There has been mention of a possible diabetes cure. Now wouldn’t that be incredible?

this is awkward. i’m not sure if we’re supposed to celebrate a ten year anniversary or not. what the heck, why not? congratulations on your diabetes and all. i don’t think there’s any song associated with diabetes anniversaries.
on the other hand, i wholeheartedly support the Lee Iococca Foundation and their research. let’s send this disease back from whence it came! (i just imagined becca throwing the syringe of power in the fiery lake atop mount doom.) much love.

Hey, I’ll accept congratulations for my 10 year milestone. In some ways I don’t feel like 10 years have gone by, in other ways I do… My life is good because God is good. Diabetes, however, bites.
