Livia: Make waters? [A few others words, pause.]
Me: You want to make waters.
Livia: [Smiles and shakes head.] No. Make waters. Hood.
Me: Hood? Like a hat?
Livia: [Smiles and laughs.] Make waters. Hood.
Me: [Now at a total loss.] Neighborhood?
Livia: Yeah!! Watch make waters neighborhood?
Me: You want to watch Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood?
Livia: [beaming] YEAH!
We’re both relieved at our communication for exactly two seconds until I say No and she wails the wail of a toddler who skipped her nap. Darn that Rogers for only being on PBS on weekdays.

well, if you had a tivo or dvr or dvd-recorder you could record “make waters hood” for future viewings… (ahem)… that is if you had such a device…

Torrin just saw this for the first time the other week when he was sick and stayed home from school! I told him it was an old show, and he said, “I thought so…it looks kinda funny.” (He thought it was all right, though.)

Yup, Adam, I definitely need to get that DVR up and running (thanks again, by the way!). A whole tape of PBS would be helpful for desperate Saturdays.
Liv and I experience miscommunications about every other day. Before Make Waters Hood (that’s what it sounded like to me at least), there was Gwaya, which had Nana and me both confused. Livia tends to drop the “s” from the starts of words. Any guessers on Gwaya?
This morning, however, I heard my child loud and clear. I had just gotten off the phone with my mom and said, “Love you, too,” when Liv kissed my hand and said Two Tons. I repeated her in a question and she clarified, “I love you TOO TONS.” Shards.

Sagwa isn’t on our PBS station — hmmm… Actually, “gwaya” was squirrel. In her toddler speak, Liv drops the first “s” and her “r’s” are “w’s”. Personally, I love her toddler language and cherish the funny things she says now.
