On the Ice

On the Lake

Today is warmish (49 degrees!) and sunny and most Nebraskans I’ve seen are not even wearing their coats today. I, however, am still clad in my winter coat and knit hat because I’m a wimp.

Livia and Papa headed out the back door and onto the frozen lake. A fisherman said the ice was five inches thick—and that was when I decided to relax a little. With the sun shining overhead, Livia took off her boots and put on a pair of slippers in hopes of adequate sliddage on the ice. Apparently, we now are in the market for a size 1 pair of ice skates.

    I’m just smiling. That’s all.

What? No coat at 49 degrees? We wear coats here when the weather dips in the low 70’s. :o)Trust me you are not a wimp.

I am so jealous right now. I am 30 years old and have NEVER gotten to walk on a frozen lake. I guess it’s on my bucket list. Or something like that. jeff and I went skiing today and as we drove up to the mountains, we passed a frozen lake that people were walking on. i was really, really tempted to see if I could get Jeff to pull over so I could join them.

    Maybe next time.

I’m not worried about Liv out there. That 6’4″ dude may just go in!
