And Then There Were Two

Clay. Ruben. Tough choice. I’m leaning towards Ruben just a little — but both are worthy of the American Idol title. Who gets your vote?

charity, are ya feeling certain about that? ; )

    clay clay clay clay!!!!!!!

  7. lindsay May 15, 2003 2:33 PM

see? all those other people agree with me—GO CLAY!

clay is good, but his style of singing is very broadway. i just don’t think he has a good voice for pop music. put him in les miserables, yes. give him dance moves and put him on the radio, no.

plus he really does look like martin short. freaks me out.

clay kinda freaks me out, too. i mean that in the nicest way possible. i’m leaning towards ruben because i’d actually purchase his album. there’s no way i’d buy a ‘clay aiken’ cd — though i would like him in a musical soundtrack. my parents love josh grobin (which is what clay would sound like); i can’t stand him.

hurrah! finally! someone else can’t stand josh groban. (we’re going to get more tongue lashing from lindsay about this, too)

i just noticed the last phrase of your blog post: “worth of the american idol title.” hahaha. how little worth that title infers…

just finished the matrix reloaded. i don’t have mixed feelings about the movie, i know it was good, however i’m not really sure what i actually saw. the movie presents so many complicated questions that the film makers plague themselves with long dialogue scenes, some of which i just cannot follow. in one, four latin phrases are used quickly and quietly — all of them used to heighten the sense of philosophical ability — the man said ‘ergo’ at least five times. though i was paying attention i was unable to actually make sense of any of it. anybody else seen it?

  12. bethany May 15, 2003 11:03 PM

    nope.

  13. lindsay May 16, 2003 9:44 AM

i saw it. yeah, read my blog for my crazed reactions.
i agree that the beginning was weak, but you have to admit that once the movie got rolling it was pretty amazing.
    indescribable, really.
    but…it’s the matrix. it rocks.
and think of it as a chapter. a chapter.

(by the way, the group I went with on Wednesday was first in line and we were on the news. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.)

yeah, tell them why you were on the news, lindsay. hehe…
could it be because you made a song to go along with the movie you were standing in line for?? hmmmm? to the tune of ‘star wars’? hmmmmm?

  15. rebecca May 16, 2003 10:18 PM

eeeeek — you terrible people!!!! here i am, minding my business on my own blog, mind you, and people are talking about the matrix. i haven’t seen it! (panic mode… must scroll over comments… pretend like i didn’t read anything… i’m not listening!)

HOWEVER, tomorrow is the day of reckoning. tomorrow at 2pm. i’ll be back with something to say. : )

  16. lindsay May 17, 2003 4:47 PM

    hey…i didn’t make up the song…
but it was very funny, and i enjoyed joining in.
besides, it was hilarious when we got the entire line of about a hundred people to sing the words “matrix, matrix reloaded” to the tune of any star wars song!
what can i say—you get really bored after standing in line for a couple hours.

  17. lindsay May 17, 2003 4:48 PM

    oh and—
    CLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. rebecca May 17, 2003 6:59 PM

lindsay, it totally makes sense that you choose clay if you LOVE josh groban. but i’m with bethany on this thing, broadway clay will be probably be beat by ruben.

  19. lindsay May 18, 2003 1:51 PM

the reason i’m rooting for clay is because i picked him out to win the very first time i saw him at tryouts.
don’t you see? i have to cheer for him! if he wins, then i’m some kind of american idol genius! (and that title is something to be proud of)

  20. rebecca May 23, 2003 10:34 PM

ruben studdard, mr american idol. go sing those spirituals now, ruben — i KNEW you’d win. (okay, i didn’t really know. i just want to pretend i’m an america idol genius, to quote lindsay.)
