i’ve watched it several times over the past few weeks, since it was released. interesting, isn’t it? but why is satan a woman??

what makes you think satan is a woman?

you can see her, walking through the crowd, looking evil.
at first i just thought it was a feminine looking man, but this is from imdb.com:
    satan, played by rosalinda celentano.

oh and that’s her looking up evilly as the snake crawls around on the ground, too.

you’re right! i thought satan was a girly-man at first, too… veeeery interesting. i just peeked at the imdb conversations on this flick and they are soooo stinkin’ annoying! some of the folks who comment are just nuts… and others, just obnoxious.

i wonder if satan will be more of a symbolic character and that’s why the sex of the actor is not vitally important. just a thought.

when i lived in fresno, ca, my grandmother attended ‘people’s church,’ which every year put on a huge passion play. they’d have live camels and horses coming down the aisles and jesus would actually rise from the dead at the end… it was quite a show.

though gibson’s movie will inevitably draw criticism (for telling the gospel story, for not making jesus dark-skinned enough, for anything and everything else) i think it’s very cool that someone has invested big bucks into making a quality jesus film.

well, i think we need to do a grand-scale passion play at zion. live animals! (i can donate a goose, two horses, various chickens and ducks, two cats, one dog, and two brothers.)

we’d need lots of plastic for the floor with your entourage, linds (all but the brothers, that is!).

This movie looks very interesting. Since Mel is a devout Catholic, I think the potrayal of Jesus’ sufferings at His scouraging at the pillar to HIs crucifixion will be depecited as closely as to the actual crucifixion really was.

Another good version is by Radix. You can find it at http://www.radixguys.com. It is by Doug Barry. You can check out 14 minutes of preview there.
