At 5:55pm on a Wednesday afternoon, Livia can get anything her little heart desires. Right now she’s sitting on the computer desk, facing me and giving me a good dose of saliva by munching away at my Medic Alert necklace. What ever you want, child… Whatever you want. Daddy will be home soon.

Some days…

Oh I identify so much with you on this one! There are many a day when I’m counting down till Daddy gets home. I usually revert to watching TV, because it mesmorizes Caleb when he’s so fussy, and I’m just done for the day. I don’t know how single moms do it!

…don’t know how single moms do what? :) If you don’t have that particular event to look forward to, then you don’t…i’m always excited at the end of the afternoon, knowing that my son will run up to me ecstatically and and exclaim, “MOMMA!” when I come to pick him up from school. It is a moment full of love and relief. Then, of course, there’s bedtime, which is also a joyous event–cuz then, Mommy can do her homework!

I stayed at home with my son when he was an infant. But his dad didn’t come home from work until 12:30 at night, so I didn’t have that event to look forward to then, either, cuz baby was already in bed. I look forward to someday having that experience :(

Different lives = different routines. The one you are in supplies the air that you breathe. Fighting off the particular mixture of vapor that gives you life just suffocates you.
