I think you may be attempting to try and cover up something. Where were you the night the lucky ticket was bought? Just kidding! Hope you are having a good one.

Okay, okay, you got me! The (sur)real truth is this…

Last Friday, about 2:45pm, I got an urge to eat stale donuts. This happens every so often and no fresh donut can cure it. I must eat the little packaged ones from convenience stores. So strong was my craving that I WOKE my toddler from deep slumber, deposited her in her carseat, then took off for, you guessed it, U-Stop on West O. Phillips 66 is actually closer, but I felt the Krispy Kreme display case might successfully overwhelm the call for stale donuts so I drove a little further. At approximately 3:08pm, I roused my drowsy child and walked into the gas station where I encountered an elderly woman and a man in a plant jacket loudly discussing what they’d do if they won the Powerball jackpot. And even though I’ve never purchased a lottery ticket in MY ENTIRE LIFE, I couldn’t pass up this monumental opportunity. By 3:10pm I was walking out the door, Livia on my hip, with one package of small chocolate-covered donuts and one Powerball ticket. Yes, I was the twenty-something female in line.

So what’s the holdup? Why haven’t I made it official yet? Well, Jeremy and I disagree on where we’ll go while the hoopla dies down. He’s arguing for the south of France and I’m pushing for Hawaii.

See ya on the evening news! And don’t call me. If I feel like sharing I’ll give you a ring. ; )

We were hoping it was you guys! Visions of group vacations on the Mediterranean, sailing, eating and laughing with our Lincoln friends dance through our heads. Would have been grand!

kristin and i woke up to hear headline news say, “…the winning ticket for last night’s historic jackpot was sold in lincoln, nebraska…”

kristin said, “too bad we live in omaha!” to which i replied, “…but i bought the tickets *in* lincoln!”

a mad dash to the computer ensued and we found we did not win the powerball.

but how much closer are you going to get to have purchased a ticket in the winning town for that very drawing?! long odds, but wow!
