sweatshirts and hot chocolate on the the porch with a cool wind blowing the different color leaves on the trees…. falling asleep to football on a sunday afternoon…. driving lookout mtn in mid-October….pumpkins….

i step out the door, wearing a cozy sweater and scarf. the wind sweeps the leaves across the brick path–orange, yellow, red–and in the distance is the low murmuring of a field being harvested.

one of my favorite things is a visit to an apple orchard… plucking apples from the trees, going on hayrack rides, picking pumpkins from the pumpkin patch, eating apple cinnamon donuts. it’s kind of a family tradition and i look forward to doing it with my own kids. : )

my favorite thing in the fall was to swing in the back yard on the rope swing of my own creation at 5040 lasalle street. betcha didn’t know that one, becca.

ah, little noonee swingin’ in the backyard. i don’t even remember that swing, andrew!

    mmmm… donuts… (i’m the worst diabetic ever!!)

another favorite — soup! i LOVE soup, especially potato soup… i’ve already had don & millie’s baked potato soup (the best) and runza’s potato bacon (also good).

    mmmm…potatoes….

i love: sweaters, the colors of the trees-red, green, yellow, orange, socks and jackets, a cool breeze in the sunny daytime, the tradition of fall fest, and all things pumpkin-flavored. just to mention a few…the list could go on much longer. autumn is my favorite season by far!

yay for fall fest! Sarah, my favorite season is fall too! All the colors! Wait till you see the colors of Lookout Mountain!

  12. sarah Sep 22, 2003 3:48 PM

i definately can’t wait to see the colors of lookout mtn.! how exciting!

  13. rebecca Sep 22, 2003 5:52 PM

oh yeah, lookout mtn is so beautiful this time of year! let’s all be jealous of andrew, who lives on the mountain year-round. : )

  14. lindsay Sep 22, 2003 6:11 PM

just to make you all jealous: my mom is, at this very moment, cooking potato soup.

    mmmmmmm…..

  15. rebecca Sep 22, 2003 11:21 PM

    i wanna come over, deedee!

  16. sarah Sep 23, 2003 8:31 PM

haha! “deedee”! that name never gets old.

  17. rebecca Sep 23, 2003 10:25 PM

i’m telling ya, lindsay’s in trouble — i keep thinking of her as “deedee”!!

  18. lindsay Sep 24, 2003 6:15 PM

    just for the record:
only my dad and rebecca have permission to call me “deedee.” i don’t want anyone else picking up on this nickname.

(if anyone is wondering where this name originated, it is what i called myself when i was three, because i could not pronounce “lindsay.” also, i had a cabbage patch doll named “doedee.” i was never without this doll: we were doedee and deedee.)

  19. sarah Sep 25, 2003 4:09 PM

since i already knew the story behind that nickname, does that allow me to use it? i should think so…(deedee…heehee)

  20. rebecca Sep 25, 2003 5:01 PM

ah, linds, i feel so privileged. thanks! (big hugs and kisses to my friend deedee.)

noonee and deedee. isn’t my life good? (sidenote: i’m sure andrew doesn’t let just anyone call him “noonee.”)
